Bubbles Below is proud to be partnering with the Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA). We have trained instructors and dive masters that are excited to be starting this new endeavor. The first class we are offering is the HSA Dive Buddy Course, April 5th. If you are a scuba diver that wants to learn how to be a dive buddy to a handicapped scuba diver this is the course for you. See below for details.
The PADI Specialty of the Month is the Drift Diver Specialty. You will do your class and paperwork right on the boat. PADI members will also get a chance to earn FREE PRIZES at the same time. See below for more details.

HMCS Annapolis Work Party

SATURDAY, MARCH 27TH
8AM - 4:30PM (Ship to Shore)
 SPEND A DAY AT SEA!This trip is for both divers & non-divers; space is limited to 5 people. Meeting at Horseshoe Bay, Sewell Marina at 8AM. We will take a private boat to the ship (free) near Gambier Island, Howe Sound BC.

CALL FOR MORE INFORMATION & CAR POOLING - This 371 ft. Destroyer has a helicopter deck and hanger, plus an exterior Bridge on the upper deck. She was commissioned in Dec. 1964. Served as a floating museum in 1996.
- Her new life will be serving as a new artificial reef for marine critters this Summer 2010. Be one of the first to view the HMCS Annapolis.
This is a work party, non-diving. You'll be doing anything from sweeping, hauling "stuff" and working with hand tools to unattach "stuff" from the ship.
BRING: Work boots, HAND TOOLS, work gloves, lunch, drinking water, camera and appropriate clothes for the weather.

SPECIALTY OF THE MONTH
DRIFT DIVER!SUNDAY, MARCH 14TH
The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course introduces you to the coolest
magic carpet ride you'll ever experience. This course shows you how to
enjoy rivers and ocean currents by "going with the flow," staying with
your dive partner, communicating with the dive boat and knowing where
you are the whole time.
The Fun Part
Drift Diving is nearly effortless and relaxing. You simply glide
along and enjoy the rush of flying underwater while the current does
the work.
What You Learn
During your PADI Drift Diver certification course, you learn about:
- Planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of drift diving
- An introduction to drift diving equipment -- floats, lines, reels
- Buoyancy-control, navigation and communication for drift diving
- Site selection and overview of aquatic currents - causes and effects
- Techniques for staying close to a buddy or together as a group
Society
members who enroll in the Drift Diver Specialty course this March are
eligible for a free pair of PADI Diving Society Flip Flops.

HSA DIVE BUDDY COURSE

Last November 2009 Bubbles Below Instructors & Dive Masters were certified with Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA).
On April 5th we will be offering our 1st HSA Dive Buddy Course at Bubbles Below.
If you are interested in what HSA is about you may want to sign up for this training course.At the interactive class session you will learn:
what disabilities are and what accessibility is. You will be
introduced to: thirteen types of disabilities, HSA training procedures
and Multilevel Certification, Special considerations, in-water
training, equipment and accessibility considerations. For the
confined water and open water training you will be "handicapped" with
your legs tied together and with blacked out masks.
You will
expereince what a "handicapped" diver experiences during their dives. At the completion of your course... you will be certified as an HSA Dive Buddy.
